Additionally, as symbolized at the entrance of Te Puia, the carvings that preserve the indigenous Maori culture are a must-see. You can also watch actual carving demonstrations at the Maori Arts and Crafts Institute. There's more! You can also see New Zealand's national bird, the flightless kiwi, at Te Puia.
